Comprehensive Housing Assistance Programs Available to Kettering Residents

Posted on January 16, 2025

The City of Kettering is helping residents create safer, healthier homes through three major housing assistance programs. These initiatives ensure Kettering residents have access to resources for critical home improvements, safety upgrades, and healthy living environments.

The city’s three primary programs include:

Lead Safe Ohio Grant Program: Provides free home repairs to address lead-based paint hazards in homes built before 1978. The program covers improvements such as window and door replacement, siding repairs and other mitigation measures, with priority given to homes with children under 6 years old.

Air Quality Improvement Grant Program: Helps qualified homeowners upgrade their HVAC systems to create healthier indoor environments, addressing air quality concerns that can impact resident health.

Housing Rehabilitation Program: Offers both low-interest and deferred loans to help income-eligible homeowners make necessary repairs and improvements. This comprehensive program includes specialized assistance for:

– Emergency repairs to address immediate health and safety concerns.

– Accessibility modifications for residents with disabilities.

– General home improvements such as heating, plumbing and electrical systems.

– Roof replacement, windows, doors and insulation.

Many of these programs are available to households earning up to 80% of the area median income. For example, a family of four earning up to $74,300 annually may qualify for assistance.
