The City of Kettering is embarking on an exciting journey to shape its future through the development of a new Comprehensive Plan. This plan will serve as a roadmap for the city’s future growth, outlining a vision for vibrant neighborhoods, thoughtful economic development, connected and accessible communities, attractive mixed-use districts, inviting public spaces and high-quality design and architecture.
As a key member of your community, please join the Planning Team for the “What’s Next Kettering” in-person drop-in event on April 23, 2025, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lathrem Senior Center (Program Center B), 2900 Glengarry Dr., Dayton, OH 45420.
This event will provide an opportunity to:
- Learn about the planning process, including its goals, timeline and approach
- Explore current conditions, emerging trends and key challenges facing Kettering
- Share your thoughts on what’s missing, where improvements are needed and the direction the city should take
“The Comprehensive Plan will provide a long-term strategy to ensure Kettering continues to thrive,” said City Manager Matt Greeson. “By working together, we can create a dynamic, livable and sustainable community for future generations.”
The feedback collected at the What’s Next Workshop will directly inform the development of planning concepts and recommendations, ensuring that the final plan reflects community priorities.
In the face of challenges such as an aging housing stock, shifting demographics and economic changes, this plan will allow Kettering to take a proactive approach to sustainable growth and development. By reusing and redeveloping existing spaces, the city can prioritize community needs, guide private investment and allocate resources wisely to support essential services and infrastructure.
“The success of this plan relies on the voices of our residents, business owners and community members,” said Planning and Development Director Tom Robillard. “We encourage everyone to participate and help create a vision that reflects the needs and aspirations of Kettering.”
The City of Kettering has partnered with MKSK, an urban planning and design firm, along with Randall Gross, Development Economics, to lead this planning effort. Their expertise will help guide discussions on market trends, infrastructure, workforce development and land use opportunities to craft a cohesive and forward-thinking development strategy.
Interested participants are encouraged to register for the workshop online to help the planning team prepare for the evening. Registration is not required but appreciated.
